A one day course for vet nurses designed to introduce them to the core concepts of rehabilitation of the canine patient.
Taught by Kate Rew IVAS Veterinary Surgeon and Helen R.Mathie Chartered Physiotherapist, a variety of case studies will be utilised to illustrate the appropriate inclusion of certain physiotherapeutic exercises and techniques for both post-operative and conservatively managed orthopaedic peripheral joint patients. The use of acupuncture and a multi-modal approach to the management of osteoarthritis will also be discussed.
Students will be introduced to the theory underpinning the appropriate use of hydrotherapy including the hydrotherapy treadmill. The day will comprise a mixture of lectures followed by practical sessions as well as a demonstration of the hydrotherapy treadmill and a tour of the Linhay facilities.
